Wake up at 8:30 yeah! My body is regaining its energy! Marie-Andrée and I are relaxing this morning and Louis is going to the marina. When he comes back, it's "Go go, get ready we're leaving, the next 2 days are planned. He got some good advice from the marina office, so we get ready quickly. Meanwhile, he's going to rent the car next door and we're leaving for Garachico.
We stop to eat right in front of the natural pools in a small restaurant: El Caletón Restaurante Chill Out (Garachico), where we all eat a fantastic seafood soup. We then shared mussels marinières, a salad with a soft cheese on top (Mmmm!) and garlic prawns. Really, we are not at all to be pitied!
Incredible! The natural pools are superb. They are different from those of the Azores that we saw last summer. Although some were deep in the Azores, some were also shallow and best with water shoes. Here it is very deep. People can jump from almost anywhere. There are many lifeguards. Some places are temporarily closed since the tide is rising and it can be dangerous with the strong current. It sounds stressful, but it's very well organized. And the water is so salty that it's hardly even exercise to swim, you float almost naturally. There is also no physalia in the water ("portugese man of war") so less need to look around in the water.
I love it so much that I even go back alone once, while my traveling companions dry off in the sun. Louis plays the photographer.
We return to the sailboat at the end of the afternoon. Louis is making us pasta on the boat tonight. It feels good not to always eat at the restaurant. We even open a bottle of Spanish wine and sleep. We have another day of activity with Marie-Andrée tomorrow before she leaves/returns home.
