Great day once again! The engine service people are here at 9:00. Really the service here is amazing! Louis starts the engine and everything works, water comes out of the water outlet. All is well... it's like going to the doctor: when you get there, you no longer have sores. We started the engine 3 times just in case and the water came out each time. The problem may be fixed. We will see in futur. Meanwhile, Max and Andrea get us smoothies and sandwiches at the restaurant to the right of the marina (right seen from the water, not to the right of the offices). They had ordered the same thing as yesterday, so sandwiches with egg but instead, we have tuna, tomato and onion sandwiches. Delicious!
We then leave to go to El Cedro to walk a little. The GPS sends us down a very narrow road/coast and for Andy, in her book, it was up a mountain. We will see later that there is also a viewpoint (viewpoint) El Cedro. So we walk on the trails about 4.5km in total. We stay there for about 1 hour. Several people are on the trails, but not too many people. Beautiful forest. Louis and I preferred the more humid and fairytale forest of El Hierro, but this one is also very good. Beautifully groomed trails and hardly any sound, not many birds, no squirrels, you really wonder what lives in the forests. Oh, we saw 3 chickens by the side of the road but otherwise nothing.
We then decide to go swimming and eat in Vallehermoso. When you finally get there, at the beach, you can't really swim there, at least you can't see anyone there, because it's big waves and big rocks, but most people are in a swimming pool dug right next to it. On the other hand, no restaurant on the horizon, so we continue our way because we are hungry, it is after 2 p.m.
Direction Valle Gran Rey, we were told by some that it was superb and by others that it was too touristy or too overrun by hippies. We are hungry, we will judge for ourselves. We arrive in the valley and what a sight: it's beautiful, it's beautiful, it's extraordinarily magnificent! Cultures in espaliers, old abandoned cultures, valleys, palm trees, cacti, dwellings. Sublime, in fact, I have never seen so many palm trees as in La Gomera. I've been to the islands of the West Indies, I've been to Florida, but I've never seen so many wild palm trees, it's magnificent. Well, I know I haven't seen the whole world, not yet ;) but I love it. Oh and the cacti, it's like their dandelions. They are everywhere in the mountains. Really, we love it. We stop in a small restaurant by the beach: the salad is incredible, and we have delicious little round pizzas. The pinnacle of the meal for Louis, who is not a dessert guy (in his words): a kind of millefeuille (puff pastry with two layers of pastry cream or whipped cream, we have not been able to determine it ). He even ordered 2 that we shared. Then came the time to decide, around 5 p.m., whether we were going to swim in the sea or whether we were going back to the boat. No one wanted to get wet in the car so we came back to the boat. Let's also say that we ate too much. We drove for about an hour, quietly.
Arrived at the boat, it's hot so Louis, Max and Andy climb aboard the dinghy to go for a swim at the beach near the marina while I take some time to write to you. Truly an amazing day!
