I can't believe we made it! If you knew all the adventures we had in the last week, including finding insurance 2 days before departure (oh we looked for it), there is very little insurance that insures a boat from Canada to Europe. All the tasks we had to do in addition to fixing my car, which was acting up and wouldn't start!
The important thing is to have arrived there! We don't know how, but we succeeded!
Well, you will tell me that through work and determination, we can achieve anything and I would answer you that there is work and "Work".
You have surely heard like us that you have to arrive early since the airports are crowded. Well, with the last few days, we didn't want to take any chances: getting up at 3:30 am, arriving at the airport at 4:15 am for the 8 am flight. Good choice! We still had mishaps with luggage and parking! Like what, we will have been on the alert until the end, until the beginning let's say!
Louis has arrived safely and is already beginning the final preparations for his solo transatlantic crossing to the Azores. He fabricated, flew, and installed a wood floor in the cockpit.
He will also take some time to rest before leaving to be in good shape and at least a little more rested before navigating the Iceberg Alley. It's been 2 years since Newfoundland has seen an iceberg, but this year there were more than 100 it seems. Like what he is lucky I guess... but hey, I prefer him in good shape for this part of the trip, if you know what I mean.
I'll end here today, since we have to test the internet link tomorrow so that you can all follow his journey on the ocean. I will share it with you in a future post. See you all soon!
