We pass Sao Miguel (to port) in the first light of day and Santa Maria is to starboard (right). We check the map because there are reefs between the islands, but everything is fine. There is still a lot of space between the islands :)
Beautiful day on the water! I announce to you first that I will not be sick today, but I will be very quiet and eat little so as not to be sick either. I will eat 2-3 bites of omelet only for lunch. And about the same for the rest of the day. Let's say that my nearly 3-year-old niece ate more than me that day (and almost the entire crossing).
I slept a little in the morning which helped me, I think. But again, I was very quiet. Being sick 4 times in 12 hours leaves its mark. I didn't want to go through that again. I played it safe.
We went to bed around 6 p.m. that night. The two in the saloon in the cabin (next to the dining table), side by side. We were listening to music and twice everything turned off and went black. Louis therefore got up and attacked the batteries that were no longer charging.
Since yesterday midnight, we are motorized. We stopped the motor and its generating capacity around 2:30 p.m. to be guided only by the Hydrovane, our windvane autopilot (without electricity). Fantastic this product! Silent, precise, a real charm!
So Louis tries to find a solution. At the same time, he puts me on the task of putting new batteries in the lights that we put on our heads with a kind of rubber band. You will excuse my lack of vocabulary, I am a little tired. So inside, in the dark because night is falling, I unscrew the screw on one of Louis' lights to change the batteries. It takes all my energy and concentration to get there. I also change the batteries of the flashlight that served as my light. I should have started with that one but hey, the important thing is that I succeeded in my task and that everything works.
Louis managed to get the batteries charged again, so the night will be less stressful. I set my alarm so that we wake up every 30 minutes so that Louis does his rounds outside and on the radar.
