We had a good night, a night of stability with several hours of sleep in a row. We get up at 8 a.m., because we were told that we had to leave the reception platform at that time. The people of the marina help us with their dinghy (inflatable boat) to get out of a marina inlet to go to diesel dock and ultimately help us to dock our boat back end first at our new dock since it is the first time that we will moor like this. We have always had docks on the side.
When mooring, you have to back up between 2 sailboats, but back up with less than 1 foot on each side of the boat. We are incredibly close to the other sailboats. This is not a place to go in and out at will. The marina is made on the principle of when you leave the dock, you leave. It's less easy to get in and out of the boat, but at the same time it still has a reassuring effect. Everyone is close. It has a reassuring effect for me because at night on the quays, it's not my most reassuring moment. I have too much imagination for the black waters around boats and docks. Being close to other sailboats gives less space for the monsters of my imagination.
We then spend the day walking on the small street near the port. It is filled with restaurants, nautical shops and dive shops. There are even bathrooms and a laundrymat for sailors. We also go a little further to see the beach on the other side of the marina. A beautiful day to regain strength and take it easy.
We have a drink on the boat before returning to Pier 19 for dinner. Before ordering, I'm going to put our clothes in the wash, I'll pick them up a little later. Tonight, I choose a fish carpaccio (my first time with fish) and a meal of which I don't understand half of the ingredients, but I'm sure it will be excellent. A wreckfish. Superb presentation for both meals. I'm so happy. It is divine. So good and beautiful. wow! I express my appreciation to the waitress, Vanessa, whom we will have the opportunity to see again a few times since it is obvious that we will be back. Not just because of the alcohol helping, I am generous with compliments, but it really is a meal of the gods. To finish, Vanessa suggests a mango dessert. Extraordinary! There are even pieces that "pop rocks" in your mouth. Crunchy and creamy with ice cream! A dream meal!
Tomorrow we plan to rent a Vespa to go for an expedition. It's a must to discover this island. We return to the boat and meet Rémi and Marie de Bretagne. They have a sailboat close to ours. We chat for a while, then they invite us to have a drink with them. They also met Adrien in Morocco and they met here. Adrien comes to join us to celebrate their last evening together. That's what's great about sailing. We meet people and our lives intersect for a while and sometimes we see each other again. They leave tomorrow to return to Brittany. They will be back this summer. Adrien is also leaving tomorrow and will return this summer. Beautiful encounters made tonight. Too bad they're leaving tomorrow. We exchange contact details.
I hang our laundry on the lifelines of the boat and then at bedtime. We had a very nice day.
