We always think that everything is quite finished before leaving, but there is still work to be done. Our flight was also moved up to 12:30 p.m. instead of 3:30 p.m., which changes our planning a bit. We set the alarm at 5 a.m., but we turn until 6 a.m. We are still on vacation and we have made good progress. Then it's the last sprint. I finish putting everything in our suitcases, as well as everything that can rust or mold, such as textiles, in plastic bags. No, there are no more lemons lying around, because in 3 months we would probably grow a lime tree.
Louis finishes the last checks for the sailboat, removes what needs to be removed by our return and protects what needs to be protected. Yesterday, I took all that we had left of perishable food to Géraldine and some extra coat hangers to Alex. The spirit of sharing and non-waste. Long live sailboat marinas!
I then take the bags and bring them to the end of the platform, then I go to look for Louis, who is not ready yet. Only final details. So I cross the bags to the other side of the magnetic gate and wait for him. He arrives around 9am and the taxi 3 minutes later. We did it.
At the airport, we can't check in right away because it's 3h20 before the flight and they open the counters only 3h before. We then take the opportunity to have our last European lunch (unsweetened), then we go back to line up to wait for the counters to open. The same lady who warned me that the counters were closed earlier looks at me as if we were bothering her and says to me: "I told you earlier that we opened just 3 hours before" and I answer her: "I know, but we're just waiting in line for it to open” I can tell you that when the counters opened, I didn't go to her counter but to the other employee, who was super nice and explained everything to us. We could hear the tension rising with the other lady who did not want a customer to bring a second piece of luggage because it was not included in his ticket. He was just asking her how much it would cost her. Apparently some people are having less good mornings than others. We spoke with him later and we sympathized. That's what travel/vacation is all about.
We then go to the waiting room and we wait, I am looking for a wire to recharge my phone. Louis hears a lady calling for the Casablanca flight. He tells her we're on this flight and she tells him to hurry up. So he comes to get me and I tell him that we still have time. We take a bus, we get on a small plane (about 100 seats). Louis tells me we almost missed the flight. Another bus arrives. Then a lady in a car from the airport. I knew we had time, but Louis will tell me until my death that we almost missed the plane... for a second time (I'll tell you maybe one day).
Turbulence on takeoff, this is the first time I have experienced this. In a small plane, it's not the most pleasant, let's say, but I really manage better than others. I would like to reassure the gentleman in front of me, but I tell myself that this may not be the time.
We are very hungry. We tell ourselves that it is only about 2 hours of flight and that we will eat afterwards, but we are lucky, they serve a small meal. Sandwich with butter and a slice of Swiss cheese, mini muffin and yogurt. We eat everything!
We fly into Morocco and we see a snowy mountain range. I love discovering countries, even from the air. I never thought I would see snow in Morocco. It is also the first time in Africa for Louis. Like what, there is no age for the first times. Glad to have been there with him.
We land and we have about 90 minutes before departure to Montreal. We stop in a small pastry shop in the airport. I point a dessert to the employee and ask her if it's good. She says "of course" then Louis asks her for a chocolatine. The employee's eyes go round and she looks at me telling me that they are really good and that the other one is sweeter. So be it! I follow her advice and she even gives me the prettiest and biggest chocolatine, telling Louis that this one is for me. I love airport pastries!
Boarding is done, we are thrilled! After 4 flights (3 one way), we finally have a screen to watch movies. The flight will pass so much faster.
4 films later, we arrive.
The reality awaits us tomorrow.
We are preparing the next trip to visit the other islands.
