1. A dream many year in the making!

Updated: Mar 19, 2023

Who hasn't ever dreamed?

Since the beginning of time, people have been dreaming!

It's part of human nature!

Dreaming means wanting to satisfy a desire or, for others, wanting to escape reality.

In this case, let's say it's a dream he's been pursuing for a long time.

Crossing the Atlantic solo!

When man is determined, he usually succeeds in achieving his goal!

It will have taken him several years of preparations but, here we are, less than 2 weeks before his departure to find Soleau 1, his sailboat, his companion for the next few weeks!

In the marine world, a sailor's boat is called "she". This sometimes refers to the idea that a ship is a mother protecting her children. The boat thus protecting its crew. Other meanings refer to the notion that in the past, sailors were always male and that on long hauls the ship filled an emotional need usually met by women thus the ship became she. Regardless of the definition, what is clear is that even far from the coast, women cannot be forgotten.

Louis will therefore take a plane to Newfoundland, where we brought the boat just before the pandemic, to leave solo across the Atlantic to the Azores. We have already been watching the weather forecast since the beginning of spring and the crossing varies from 6 to 26 days. I know, it's accurate! But hey, we'll probably have a more exact idea in the days and hours before departure.

As you probably imagine, I will be on the lookout for weather changes, comfortably sitting in my living room, just a little stressed (anyone believe me?), wanting to be a little bird to observe the scene from afar. It's his dream after all!

As soon as they leave, I will share an internet link with you so that you can, like me, follow Louis and Soleau 1 during their crossing. I will continue to be the intermediary until I go to join them in the Azores to live new adventures with them.

See you very soon for their departure!
