Oups!

We take the opportunity to relax today. Nothing planned, other than taking it easy. I write and Louis reads. We think about our next adventures. Tomorrow, we take the ferry for a few days on the island of El Hierro which is famous for its scuba diving. Then our friends Max and Andrea will join us. So many great adventures yet to come.

So we spend the morning relaxing and then we go for a walk in the area. It's a bit like an all-inclusive here: several hotels everywhere, plenty of small restaurants, everything is nearby, but not pretty like in the north of the island. At least, seen from the bay. One thing is certain: there is a wind here. It seems like it's been like that all summer.

We dine in a small restaurant. How I love salads when traveling! Then a relaxing afternoon on the boat: we even play chess. The game has been on the boat for 3 years, it was time for it to serve.

We went to the marina to check in for a few days but they have a computer problem so we'll be back tomorrow.

Pasta dinner and film: Finding you, then we get ready to go and change the boat location. Yesterday's employee came to see us in the afternoon to tell us that we had to change places to leave the entry dock free. As there is too much wind, we wait till around 8 p.m.

We still do it like the pros but... The employee comes to assist us for the departure with the moorings since the wind is pushing us on the quay then he will join us on the other quay where we will moor long term. We approach, I throw him the mooring line early because the quay is quite short and not very wide. As the bow is really close to the quay, as we know and wanted her, the man pulls on the line which is disastrous as the back of the boat swivels away which makes us abort the docking. Louis yells at me, we have no choice with the wind, get the aft mooring line from the employee but I don't have time. Louis yells at the employee to stop but he doesn't understand English well so the bow of the boat enters the dock sideways. Louis yells at him to let go, but he doesn't understand. I gesture to him to let go of the mooring line and that we will try again. Everyone concentrates. It was perfect the first time but communication error, there was a blunder. We pull ourselves together and this time, I tell him not to pull. We make a circle to come back, I throw the rope to him and rush to find the one at the back. A sailor nearby comes to see if he can help and sees that the employee does not know where to turn, he must be in all his states, the sailor passes behind him on the mini quay and grabs the stern mooring line that I throw to him. Louis then quickly disembarks from the boat to see that everything is ok. I solidify the forward mooring line while he checks the stern. A small line of paint is missing at the very front of the bow. Nothing serious, just really disheartening, especially since it was repainted barely a year ago. Nothing can be done about it. Next time, we'll make sure that doesn't happen.

Oh and funny little event: Louis took his shower and since there was absolutely no hot water, he asked me to hose him down in the bathroom because he wouldn't have had the courage to do it himself. Very funny!
