A full day without being able to follow his progress is a long time. Knowing he had a good day helps!
He managed to start the engine again. Don't ask me what happened though, we have a short satellite communication so we had something else to talk about :) He's not going to leave the GPS on at all times though because it takes a lot of power, but he will turn it on 2-3 times a day at least to let us know his progress.
It was a great day of sailing yesterday. He slept a lot. He listened to music. The kind of day that reminds us why we do all this. The kind of day that makes us forget everything that happened in the last days / weeks.
We also talked about the weather. Today should be a big day.
He should have 20 to 27 knots (37-50 km/h) of wind until 11h a.m, a "strong breeze" on the Beaufort scale.
About 28-31 knots (52-57 km/h) until 4h p.m, a "near gale" on the Beaufort scale and it should gradually drop thereafter
Gusts of up to 42 knots (78km/h).
Waves up to 4 meters
Cloudy (completely overcast)
It should have rain until 4 p.m.
Between 10-17 degrees today
Let's say he will be stirred a little! The good news is that he should have a quieter night. He has already reduced his sails and installed his new storm jib (sail) for the occasion.
The storm or storm jib is smaller than a regular jib. It is a sail that is placed at the front of the boat, attached to the forestay or the roller. It is made of very thick fabric which gives it resistance in heavy weather. We want one in these high wind conditions.
He should have the GPS running all the time today, so we can follow him on this hectic day. He makes us live emotions this Louis, at least, he makes me live quite a lot lately, and you?
Good luck captain!
