12. A difficult night!

Updated: Mar 19, 2023

Sometimes he sleeps part of the night, sometimes it's only 30 minutes with naps in the afternoon. I think we'll find him tired in the Azores. Last night, he had great difficulty falling asleep. When he finally managed to enter dreamland, he was suddenly woken up. A wave passed over the deck and infiltrated the ventilation pipes to spray the entire interior.

What would you have done in Louis' place?

He laughed. Well, I'm not sure if it was a good laugh or a hearty laugh (I'm leaning towards option #1, but I wasn't there), but the important thing is that he laughed. So in the morning, everything was wet. And let me tell you, from experience, salt water doesn't dry out, at least not quickly.

He also had to deal with an air problem in the engine. So this morning, I was doing research on the internet to find solutions. A diesel engine is not like a petrol engine that you can fill up when it's empty. It is necessary to bleed the air from the pipes (air filter and injectors) and not only once. He knew it, but he had another bolt problem that was a little striped which did not allow pressure to be use in the injectors. But, to make a long story short, he found a way to fix it all. How resourceful this captain is! We will surely know more when he arrives.

He took advantage of the relative calm of the morning to try to get some sleep. During that time, I took the opportunity to clear my mind a bit and go running with my cousin and some friends at MudRace in St-Bruno. It felt good to run/walk in the mud and go through the obstacles. It did me good to put aside the stress of the last few days. So I come back to you dirty, but zen.

Louis: I charge my batteries and hope for a little wind to allow me a good night's sleep. The day ended on the right foot. I am outside admiring nature. It's weird because I don't quite realize where I am and what I do.

Soleau 1 had big waves today, despite the lack of wind. Louis was even able to take a hot shower. Last year it didn't work, so I can't wait to try it too. Tomorrow, he can take the opportunity to have a good lunch and clean the boat.

So little wind this evening (less than 7 knots)

No wind around 2 am tomorrow morning

10 knots around 7 p.m.

Waves of about 2-2.5 meters

That's all for tonight, the shower is calling me!
