For those who saw my erratum from yesterday on today's weather. Well, Louis was motoring instead of standing still for a few hours, which skewed my initial predictions.
It seems he prefers the sound of the wind to the relaxation the ocean brings. On the other hand, the calm of the water allowed him to meet some dolphins. All temperatures bring us something.
I was motorized until 3am because the din of the boat which does not move is unbearable. So I prefer the wind to the calm.
Louis loves our new Hydrovane. He says it's great for keeping the angles upwind. There was part of the day without much wind and then it came in the afternoon. On the other hand, he has been in the rain since 8 am this morning. He had around 20 knots of wind, which is below what we expected, and so much better. It's about 19 degrees on the ocean right now, which should be good for morale.
I'm sitting in the doorway contemplating nature and trying to realize what I'm going through...I'm really having the trip of a lifetime.
He is approximately 789 nautical miles from the central Azores Islands. There will be wind this evening, which will decrease until it reaches around 5 knots tomorrow afternoon. His last time without wind, since he will be cruising from 10-15 knots until the Azores. If the weather doesn't change, it'll also be cloudy and luckily he will travel between two lines of precipitation and big waves. He should stay dry for a few days. Waves around 3-3.5m tonight and tomorrow (just missing 4.5m waves)
Can you imagine what it's like to be over 700 nautical miles from everything? Louis will tell us soon.
In the meantime, here he is on his departure for the open sea. At that moment, he had no idea what he was about to experience!
